Summary

This is an amazing motorcycle tour, twisting around the best roads in the western Alps. Riding great passes in mind-blowing scenery and the highest paved pass in the Alps.  The addition of the stunning Combe Laval, the beautiful Verdon Gorge and  Route Napoleon makes this a very memorable Alps tour

Each day’s riding will be around 8 hours including breaks. You must be able to ride all day on some technical roads


The French Alps and Route Napoleon

Itinerary

Day 1 (350 miles)

Meet  at Folkestone terminus to get the eurotunnel at around 9.00am head on mostly fast roads (tolls apply) to our hotel near Dijon 


Day 2 (230 miles)

Amazing roads start almost as soon as we leave the hotel. We head into the Jura Mountains and ride the Col de la Faucille towards Aix-les-Bains. We ride the Col De Plainpalais and ride a few glorious passes in the beautiful Chartreuse Natural Regional Park our day ends with a non chain hotel in great Location with beautiful views.


Day 3

Incredible roads on the morning of day 3 within the impressive Vercors Massif, a rugged section of mountains and plateau that combine breathtaking roads with stunning scenery. We ride some Balcony roads  – fully paved in an incredible setting. The road we follow is gloriously twisty. Further south we ride the Col de Cabre and then onto incredible Sisteron, on the banks of the River Durance. We stay in the town centre, close to the Citadel and the  Rocher de la Baume, a huge and unusual rock formation.


Day 4

On day 4 we ride from the spectacular scenery of Sisteron The highlight is riding through the Verdon Gorge, named after the turquoise-green water in the river flowing though the gorge. it is widely considered to be one of Europe’s most beautiful areas. We then join the Route Napoleon as we head to Grasse.


Day 5

Another great day of riding awaits and we start by riding the hills above Monaco. We then head north into the main part of the French Alps, where fantastic passes await us. We ride  to our hotel which will be our base for the next two nights.


Day 6 (140 miles)
Today we explore the French Alps, returning to the same hotel in the evening. You can choose to rest or take part in  the rides if you wish. The highlight of today is riding the Col de la Bonette, as we ride a total of 139 miles today on fabulous roads.


Day 7 (165 miles)

We continue riding great roads in the French Alps today – up to 165 miles worth if you would like to, or you can rest.


Day 8

We head north on day 8 and in the afternoon, we ride the highest pass road in the Alps. We ride the col de Vars and ride by nearby ski resorts. Before lunch, we ride the Col D’Izoard and its fantastic views. Another famous pass awaits us in the afternoon – the Col du Galibier which is frequently the highest point on the Tour de France. The Col de Télégraphe follows. Our last pass of the day is the Col de L’Iseran, which at 2,764 metres (9,068 ft), is the highest paved pass in the French Alps.


Day 9

For our last day of riding, we start by riding the fabulous Cormet de Roselend followed by the Col des Saisies and the Col des Aravis. A few more passes before we join the motorway and head for Dijon for the final evening


Day 10

We Leave Dijon an start our journey home this morning.

We require a £200 deposit per person at the time of booking.  The balance payment is due 10 weeks before the commencement date.
